Ciclo Musikene at Chillida Leku - Ligatio Saxophone Quartet

Once again this year Chillida Leku is hosting a series of concerts in collaboration with Musikene, the Basque Country's Higher Music Centre, as part of the agreement signed by the two institutions. In this way, the relationship that Eduardo Chillida's work has always had with music is highlighted. Both concerts will include the premieres of two works composed by Musikene composition students, thus contributing to contemporary creation and the dissemination of new musical proposals.

The ’Ligatio" Saxophone Quartet was founded in 2024 when its members joined the Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco (Musikene) with the aim of developing a professional chamber music project. Since its beginnings, it has sought to disseminate the repertoire for saxophone quartet, combining tradition and innovation.

Despite its recent creation, it has demonstrated a high artistic level and a great commitment to musical excellence. Proof of this is its participation in a masterclass with the prestigious Kebyart Quartet, a reference in the world of the saxophone. Its members, with extensive experience in chamber music and prizes in competitions, have developed a unique identity and sound based on cohesion and balance.

Their repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary works, exploring new techniques and collaborating with contemporary composers to offer dynamic and accessible concerts for different audiences. In addition, their energy and commitment position them as a formation with great projection. The name Ligatio symbolises the musical union and the connection between tradition and modernity. With an innovative approach and a solid technique, the quartet seeks to consolidate itself as a reference in chamber music and to expand its artistic proposal to new stages.
