Participatory sound installation "Lulling time"

  • Event

After its run at the Hernani centre, Chillida Leku is hosting Lulling time [Mecer el tiempo], a project by the Canadian artistic collective Berceurs du temps.

Lulling time is a haven of poetic tranquillity that opens the door to the world of lullabies. Rocking chairs set up in the museum's gardens will host melodies collected since the start of the project in 2016, a collection of over 2500 lullabies in more than 90 languages recorded by participants in a mobile studio. Childhood memories feed the living archive that makes the chairs of this participatory installation sing. We invite you to sit down, open your ears, close your eyes and let yourself be carried away on a gentle journey aboard a rocking chair. In addition, the mobile recording studio will be open to all those who want to share their sung memories and leave a mark in their turn.

BIO

By creating poetic spaces that multiply moments of sharing and being together, the members of Berceurs du temps fuse performance, performative, sound and visual practices around their shared interest in voice as a vehicle for relationship. Founded in 2016 by choreographer Sarah Dell'Ava and playwright Ilya Krouglikov, the company seeks to bring art to people in unpredictable ways to propose new relationships with the world and with time. Participatory, intergenerational and inclusive, their projects aim to realise the creative potential of each individual in a dynamic of openness to oneself, to others and to the environment, such as the installation Bercer le temps, which is still touring after more than 250 performances. They also promote exchange, heritage and transmission through co-creation and cultural mediation initiatives with young and old.
