The book Chillida Leku: Una historia de la finca Zabalaga,, written by the architect Joaquín Montero, narrates the process of the transformation of the Zabalaga estate into Chillida Leku.

Chillida Leku, ‘Chillida's place’, is the museum dedicated entirely to the work of the fundamental artist Eduardo Chillida, located on the Zabalaga estate, a traditional Basque farmhouse and the extensive countryside that surrounds it in the vicinity of Hernani, Gipuzkoa.

It is a space that was carefully conceived and executed over a period of around twenty years in a slow collaboration between the person responsible for the work, the San Sebastian architect Joaquín Montero, and Chillida himself. The transformation of the Zabalaga estate into Chillida Leku is the result of a sustained dialogue between the two, in which patient observation, followed by tests, decisions and chained achievements, gradually shaped the exhibition space dreamed up by the artist.

On Friday the 4th of April at 18:00 hours, the presentation and signing of Joaquín Montero's book, Chillida Leku: A history of the Zabalaga estate will take place.

During the event, Joaquín Montero, architect and author of the book, will talk with Mikel Chillida, development director of Chillida Leku and Nacho Fernández Rocafort, moderator, author of the prologue and editor of the text.

From 17:00, visitors will be able to enter the Zabalaga farmhouse to visit the temporary exhibition Harri, Lurra, Huts before the presentation of the book.
