Harri Lurra Huts

On 6 February Chillida Leku will be opening Harri, Lurra, Huts [Stone, earth, emptiness], an exhibition that analyses Eduardo Chillida´s material universe from the perspective of earth and stone.

The exhibition brings together a total of around a hundred pieces, including his well-known Lurrak, chamotte earth sculptures, monumental and small sculptures in different types of stone and graphic work on supports such as cement or marble.

The ensemble will be displayed in the Zabalaga farmhouse arranged according to scale and material, each element having its own space to reinforce its own identity, reflecting the way in which stone and earth appear intermittently in the sculptor´s production, evoking the transformative nature of these materials in the artist´s hands.

Leaving iron, a fundamental material in the artist´s production, in the background, the exhibition explores the expressive and metamorphic qualities of stone and earth, materials that in Chillida´s work represent the creative force of nature and an expressive medium for all cultures throughout history.

The title of the exhibition, which alludes to Chillida´s work, is also reminiscent of the international game of rock paper scissors (Harri, Orri, Ar). It is also a cadence of three that refers to the number most dear to Chillida.
