Iron Route in the Pyrenees

The Pyrenees region is rich in iron ore and has an iron and steel tradition dating back many centuries. This activity generated economic wealth and there are still numerous vestiges of the past. 

Chillida Leku is part of the European Pyrenees Iron Route project. The aim of this cross-border iron route is to study, restore, conserve and showcase the heritage in the Pyrenees. This route will allow visitors to get to know the cultural heritage of iron and visit its different cultural resources on both sides of the Pyrenees.
